Think Of The Homeless

There are over 30 million Americans who live on the streets of our nation. Can you consider giving something to a shelter near you? Your fellow human beings need socks because they walk everywhere. Food and shelter are great too, if they will take them. So please give.

Reviews by Hubie Goode: Son Plans On Giving Dad Something Special For Father's Day

by Bradley Fowler

Father's Day is June 21st, and this year, the average American will spend that day gift giving, sharing quality time with their father, and or, enjoying family dinner. But for some Americans, the day will hold no significance. And unfortunately, countless of people have never met their father. But have you ever wondered why we celebrate Father's Day?

There are many different reasons, like the story of the young boy in Babylon who prayed to God -hoping his father would have longevity and good health. Or the story about a woman who felt a sudden need to celebrate and pray for those who were killed in a deadly mine explosion. Reportedly, there were 361 men killed in this explosion. Some were fathers who were recent immigrants to the United States from Italy.

But surprisingly, President Lyndon Johnson designated the third Sunday of June, in 1966, as the official day for Father's Day in America. And President Richard Nixon, eventually signed the first public bill in 1972, making it a permanent holiday.

Are you aware that there is an estimated 64.3 million fathers across the nation? According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 19% percent of those are single fathers with full custody. 38% percent are fathers who never married, and 11% are fathers to step-children. Yet, despite these statistics, there is a good reason why we celebrate Father's Day.

So this year, I'm going to honor my father differently. Like millions around the globe, I become flooded with emotions and stumble over my words when talking with my father. So instead of giving him some fancy gadget he'll recklessly torment, in the process of trying to figure out how to use it. No, this year I'm giving poetic expressions.

There are millions of people who too, find it hard to talk with their father, particularly men. Perhaps this is because, men tend to lack the ability to express their emotions freely, especially towards dad. Contrary to our assumptions, many children find it challenging to tell their father they love him.

Even at forty, I still find it hard to tell my father I love him, even though I do.

That's why, this Father's Day I will share my thought through the pages of my new book Your Love is Phenomenal and True…that's why I love you dad.

A paragon of creativity, compiled with twenty-three unforgettable poems, to warm his heart and bring tears of joy to his eyes. This year, paying homage to my father will be a honor and a reward.
